ALL roads will lead to the Banquet Hall, National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos on December 8 for the maiden edition of Legend of Nollywood Awards promoted by Paul Obazele-led Royal Pictures Limited. The award, according to Obazele, was conceived as a yearly platform to recognise and honour all those who contributed to the development of the television and motion picture industry in Nigeria. “There were people who toiled and gave their all, even before Nollywood was born. If we are not careful, the up coming up generation will not know them, and in fact, some are dying unrecognised. So, this award is designed to spot them and recognise them and it is non competitive,” Obazele explained. Scheduled to begin at 4pm with a red carpet, the late Chief Segun Olusola, who produced and created the Village Headmaster series, the filmmaker Ola Balogun, Lara Akinsola of the Village Headmasters fame, Pa Francis Oladele, Chief Eddie Ugbomah, the movie sheik Zeb Ejiro, the late Doyen of Nigerian theatre, Chief Hubert Ogunde and the late Chief Adeyemi Afolayan aka Ade Love are some of the legends to be honoured at the event.
