THIRETEEN Nigerian banks have been listed as among the top 1,000 in the world in the latest ranking carried out by Britain’s Banker magazine in a sure indication that the country’s financial services industry is on the up.
In its recently published survey, Banker magazine, owned by the Financial Times Group, named Zenith Bank, First Bank Nigeria and Guaranty Trust Bank as the top three Nigerian banks in the ranking. Others listed among the 13 included Access Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Ecobank Nigeria, Fidelity Bank, First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Skye Bank, Diamond Bank, Stanbic IBTC, Union Bank and Standard Chartered Bank, in that order.
